Root system analysis system——WinRHIZO
Date:2017-03-21 14:05:59

Main functions

WinRHIZO is a professional root system analysis system for root washing. It can analyze root length, diameter, area, volume, root tip count, etc. It has powerful functions, simple operation, and is widely used in root system morphology and structure research.

The instrument has a built-in dual-light lighting system that effectively removes the effects of shadows and uneven phenomena, thereby providing high-resolution color and black-and-white images, and reading images in TIFF and JPEG standard formats.Non-statistical methods were used to measure and calculate parameters such as the length of the root system in the cross-over overlapping parts, which greatly improved the accuracy of the analysis results. At the same time, the professional version of the software can also perform more complex root color analysis, connection analysis, topology analysis and hierarchical stretch analysis.

Measurement parameters

Overall parameters of root system: total root length, average diameter, total surface area, total projection area, total volume, number of root tips, number of branches and crosses, etc.

Root diameter grade distribution parameters: root length, surface area, projection area, volume, and root apical number.

Root color analysis parameters: root length, projection area, surface area, average diameter, volume, apical meter, etc. of color classes or groups.

Root connection analysis parameters: used for morphological research on root branch angle, connectivity and other

Root topology analysis parameters: research on the number of connections, path length, etc. (the root system needs to be complete)

Root system hierarchical stretch analysis parameters: record the overall hierarchical distribution of root system (requires complete root system)

Analysis of independent single samples in the image: morphology, connection, topology, and graded stretching of individual samples.

Application areas

It has powerful functions and simple operation. It is widely used in the research on root morphology and structure in the fields of plant physiology, plant ecology, plant nutrition, agronomics, horticulture, forestry and other fields.

Arabidopsis version

In addition to all the functions of the Professional Edition, the Arabidopsis version also has the following functions:

·   Seedlings, roots or other samples that have not been exposed to each other are partitioned and analyzed independently; in addition to statistically analyzing the total samples in the image, statistically analyses can also be performed for each independent sample.

·  The length and width of the sample bounding box can be converted into the height and width of the plant or the length and width of the leaf according to the image type.

· Automatically calculate the area of each independent object in the image (if the image is not edited in advance, the overlapping part will not be calculated, and the object you contact is calculated)

Purchase Guide:

The system consists of the following two parts:

Image capturing system: a standard root scanning equipment debugged by the manufacturer, matching special light sources, root fixing devices, etc.

·   STD4800: Scan area 22×30 cm, projection area 20×25 cm, resolution 4800 DPI, minimum resolution of 0.005 mm

·   LA2400: Extra large scanning area 31x44 cm, projection area 31x42 cm, resolution 2400 DPI, minimum resolution of 0.011 mm
