ALGcontrol uses excitation light to excite algae. When excitation light irradiates on chlorophyll molecules, chlorophyll molecules will emit part of the absorbed excitation light in the form of fluorescence of a specific wavelength.

All algae contain chlorophyll a, which emit the same fluorescence peaks (all are excited to fluorescence at a wavelength of 680 nm). However, the study found that when the same algae is exposed to excitation light of different wavelength unit intensity, the fluorescence intensity emitted is different; when the same algae is exposed to excitation light of the same wavelength unit intensity, the fluorescence intensity emitted is also different, so this characteristic can be used toAlgae were classified and measured.

In addition, the instrument will also measure other interfering substances and parameters to improve the accuracy of algae determination. These include: Compensation for DOM (soluble organic matter) and turbidity by measuring fluorescence of 365nm and fluorescence of 710nm respectively.

ALGcontrol uses 7 excitation lights of different wavelengths to excitate the object to be measured, namely 365nm, 450nm, 525nm, 570nm, 590nm, 615nm and 710nm.

When the instrument is working, 7 excitation lights of different wavelengths are irradiated successively at extremely high frequencies. The signal value will be measured and recorded by the instrument. Therefore, the excitation light of each wavelength will be "excited" to different algae. The value "is recorded and used for calculation of algae concentration, and the resulting image will be displayed on the instrument screen in µg/l.The corresponding DOM and turbidity results will also be calculated automatically.
