When performing a wind direction reading, the compass reads the average wind direction from the time interval between the last reading and the current reading.The compass contains a sensing element attached to the electronic card.There is a tracking magnet on the sensing element that can track the magnet on the wind blade.The four Hall elements measure the wind direction once a second, and then calculate the average wind direction over the measurement time by the microcontroller on the electronic card.

The sensor housing has a "N"mark, when installed, the mark must point to the "north" direction or a reference point: such as a center line pointing to a ship at a certain angle.
