December 7th-8th, Zealquest organized Plant Physiology and Phenotype Breeding Workshop in Shanghai. Nearly 100 scientists from 50 institutes and universities attended the workshop. Meanwhile, more than 50 scientists visited AgriPheno, the High-Throughput Genotyping-Phenotyping-Breeding Service Platform.
In the workshop, the technicians from Zealquest and foreign partners introduced the principles, operation skills and applications of the physiological and phenotypic measurement instruments from WALZ, CID, Lemnatec and other partners. 4 invited speakers made wonderful reports during the workshop.
The workshop focuses on the skills and applications of those instruments. The scientific topics include “Molecular and Phenotypic Breeding”, “Introduction and Application of Physiological and Ecological Measurement Technology”, “Agricultural Internet of Things”, “High-Throughput Phenotyping in Plants”, “Seed Breeding Technology”, “Root Measurement Technology”, “Visit AgriPheno” and so on.
Professor Dongxian He from China Agricultural University gave a report about “Phenotype screening and breeding application in plant factory under LED lighting”. Professor He communicated with researchers about the latest research progress of plant factory.
Professor Hanwei Mei from Shanghai Agrobiological Gene Center gave a report about “Phenotyping technologies in demand for genetic researches and breeding programs of drought resistance in rice”. Professor Mei introduced the latest research progress of resistance breeding.
Professor Quanhua Wang from China Agricultural University gave a report about “Spinach inbred lines screening and new cultivar breeding based on the high throughput plant phenotype platform”. Professor Wang took Spinach as an example, introduced the latest research progress of vegetable genetics and molecular breeding.
Professor Liang Gong from Shanghai Jiao Tong University gave a report about “Heterogeneous plant phenotyping big-data aggregation for crop breeding with diverse data-acquiring platforms and technologies”. Professor Gong communicated with researchers about the latest research progress of agricultural robot.
Dr. Edwin J. Reidel, the Co-Founder of CID AgTech, gave a report about “Shoots + Roots + Fruits: Applications for handheld instruments in phenotyping studies”. Dr. Edwin J. Reidel introduced the principle and application of plant phenotyping and imaging technology, the composition and function of plant phenotyping and imaging technology as well as the latest research progress of CID products. Dr. Edwin J. Reidel communicated with researchers about how to use the plant phenotyping and imaging technology to achieve the purposes of research and other academic questions.
The technicians from Zealquest gave reports about “The latest application of LemnaTec phenotyping technology and the research projects at Agripheno phenotyping platform”, “The application of spectral measurement in the research of plant physiology and field phenotype”, “Smart agriculture solution: AgriphenoCloud”, “The application of combining gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence measurement on photosynthesis research”, and so on.
Zealquest had booths in the workshop and showed the products and technologies from WALZ, LemnaTec, CID, Force-A, Felix, Conviron, Brooks, Agam and other partners. Many scientists took their instruments to the workshop and discussed with Zealquest technicians. The workshop is a good chance for those scientists to communicate the experiment experience and skills each other.
