From July 23rd-29th, AgriPheno was invited to attend the XIX International Botanical Congress (IBC 2017) in Shenzhen, China. The congress is organized by the Botanical Society of China and the Shenzhen Municipal Government. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the congress that was read out by Ma Xingrui, governor of the Guangdong Provincial Government, at the opening ceremony. Premier Li Keqiang also sent important instructions.

The IBC is held every six years and the first congress was held in 1900. It is the highest-level and most influential global botanical conference. It is the first time that the congress has been held in a city in a developing country. This year’s congress set the record for the number of registered participants. According to data from organizing committee, total of 6,953 people from 109 countries and regions had registered.
The congress has the theme "Green Creates Future ". During the congress, participants had carried out a wide and deep academic communication around “Biodiversity, Resources & Conservation”, “Taxonomy, Phylogenetics & Evolution”, “Ecology, Environment & Global Change”, “Development & Physiology”, “Genetics, Genomics & Bioinformatics”, “Plants & Society”.

Professor De-Yuan HONG

Professor Peter H·Raven
De-Yuan HONG, a fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and a professor at the Institute of Botany of CAS, was offered the Engler Medal. Peter H RAVEN, a professor of Missouri Botanical Garden, was granted 700,000 yuan ($103,700) as the winner of the Shenzhen International Award in Plant Sciences 2017.





AgriPheno Booth & Discussions
