In 1966, Philip, a famous Australian hydrological and soil physicist, proposed the concept of Soil-Plant-Atmosphere Continum (SPAC).The main content is: water reaches the plant root system through the soil, enters the root system, transports through cells to enter the woody interior, reaches the leaves from the xylem of the plant, and then spreads into the atmosphere from the stomata, and finally participates in the turbulent exchange of the atmosphere to form a unified and dynamicA mutual feedback continuous system, i.e. a soil-plant-atmospheric continuum (SPAC) system.In this continuum, there is the transmission and exchange of matter, energy and information. Soil, plants and the atmosphere are the objects of our research, and the transmission of water in soil, plants and the atmosphere is the core content of the research.

Academician Liu Changming, a famous hydrological and water resource scientist in my country, proposed the interaction problem of the "five water" system, namely the interaction and relationship between water in the atmosphere, plants, surface, soil and groundwater layers, also known as the Five. Water conversion.The moisture in the soil-plant-atmospheric (SPAC) system must be related to groundwater and surface water due to natural and man-made effects.From the perspective of the soil system, the sources of soil water are atmospheric precipitation, the rise of groundwater and artificial input of surface water (such as irrigation), etc.; the loss of soil water includes directly escaping from the soil surface to the atmosphere, absorbing water through the root system into the plant bodyThen it transpires into the atmosphere and seeps into the groundwater layer from the soil layer.Therefore, this set of "Five Waters" transformation theory not only includes the connotation of SPAC proposed by Philip, but also has a certain degree of extension.

The proposal of the SPAC system not only points out the micro-research direction of global water problems, but also strengthens interdisciplinary research in hydrology, which has had a huge impact on the research on water circulation and water energy balance in the international academic community.Contemporary research on soil moisture circulation and balance, soil-plant moisture relationship, and groundwater-soil water-surface water-plant water-atmosphere conversion water are all based on SPAC.

From an international perspective, moisture transmission in SPAC systems is one of the international cutting-edge topics.In order to assist scientific researchers in better carrying out their work, Zequan Open Laboratory proposed a systematic solution for SPAC research, hoping to be helpful to scientific researchers in the above fields.
