Application areas

Seed DNA Extraction

The first step is to evenly place single particles or a certain number of seeds from batch seeds into a 96 microplate, and then add grinding balls for micro homogenization. Some laboratories also add cell lysing or extraction buffer during the crushing process.Seed Picker fully automates the entire process, including adding single or a certain number of seeds to microplate, grinding balls, and adding buffer. The entire process is monitored through the visual system or the final mass balance control system, and the microplate can be sealed in an integrated plate. At the same time, multiple batch seeds can be batched and automatically divided, greatly providing the efficiency of DNA extraction.

Germination rate experiment

In the laboratory, testing the germination rate of seeds is a highly standardized process. The experimenter repeatedly puts the seeds into the germination plate using the same method, and places filter paper in the germination plate to evaluate and measure the process of seed germination. To avoid redundant work, the high-throughput fully automated seed processing system developed by LemnaTec, Seed Picker, can automatically sort seeds from batch seeds and place them on the filter paper of the germination disk. To ensure quality, the system conducts the entire process through a visual system.monitor.We also developed a linear racking system, which can store the germination disk at a fixed temperature, automatically image the growth conditions of the characteristics of the seed germination process such as roots and stems during seed germination every period of time, and conduct quantitative analysis.

Small plant transplant

While applying it to seed treatment, Seed Picker can also be used to automatically select small plants in the tray.Seed Picker can automatically remove the protective cover in the tray, and the high-speed industrial-grade camera simultaneously performs real-time rapid coordinate positioning of the samples. The small plants are removed from any direction of the tray through a 6-axis robot and placed them in the target position.

Phenotype study

As a world-renowned phenotype research software developer, LemnaTec, Germany, integrates a large number of other sensors into Seed Picker to analyze the number of phenotypes such as the shape, size, color, structure, weight, and movement of seeds or plants. If studying the effects of herbicides and fungicides on plant phenotypes, a complete set of hardware and software solutions can be provided.
